Goal Setting and Time Management

Today's Austin SCBWI meeting was presented by P.J. (Tricia) Hoover author of the fantasy trilogy, The Forgotten Worlds Books. Her program focused on the importance of setting goals and managing your time to work toward achieving your goals. She spoke about yearly goals and setting up a five-year plan. Equally important, she said is to surround yourself with like-minded individuals who are positive thinkers and who will support you in putting your plan into action.  Here are the top 5 things, I took away from the meeting.

1.  Stop procrastinating.

2. Make a list the night before of what you want to accomplish the next day.

3.  Define your goals on paper. Yearly and long-term.

4. Visualize your goals and reinforce them on a daily basis. Cut-out pictures of what you want and stick them to the refridgerator.

5.  Spend time everyday doing something that will move you toward your goal.

Okay, one final tip. Have fun!!

There was so much wonderful information provided by this rockin-out-of-this-world-feisty author!  I couldn't possibly list it all, but I hope you enjoy the highlights! Check out Tricia's blog for more tips!

Thanks Tricia!  Your advice is already working, I've done two things today to move me closer to one of my goals!
